So far I’ve given you four date ideas for less than $20 each.
There was Monday’s post “$20 Date Week Dates 1 & 2″ and Tuesday’s post “Romancing Your Wallet” which was an obscure reference to an 80’s movie that wasn’t really even that good, lol.
These next two date ideas are pretty simple, with the first being the most fun, I think.
Saturday Morning Cartoons & Breakfast
Start up the stove and turn on the tube, it’s a morning at home with laughs!
Here’s a simple and quick omelette recipe for you to use if you don’t have an adaptation of your own that is….
Four large eggs
Pinch of salt, a shake of black pepper
A little oil or butter for frying (or use a non-stick pan)
Optional: tablespoon of milk, and maybe a filling such as ham or pre-cooked vegetables, and a pinch of shredded cheese.
1. Break the eggs into a bowl and beat them with a pinch of salt and a little pepper. You may wish to add a tablespoon of milk to make the mixture go further and fluffier. You can stir pre-cooked vegetables into the mix after you’ve beaten the eggs.
2. Unless your frying pan is non-stick, add a few drops of oil or a teaspoon of butter to the pan and place over a medium heat.
3. Add the egg mixture to the pan, swirling it around so the bottom of the pan is covered. Cook gently until the top of the omelette stops looking runny (it will be firmer and lose the shiny appearance). The omelette should have a slightly golden colour.
That’s a nice and easy omelette recipe, serve up some toast and orange juice or a mojito (See Below for a Mojito recipe
) with that and you’ve got a great breakfast with a small time investment. Now go watch cartoons and just have a good time feeling like a kid again with your date.
1.5 oz BACARDI Rum
12 fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 lime
7 oz club soda
2 tbsp. simple syrup
(or 4 tsp. sugar)
For the smoothest summer cocktails, gently crush mint leaves and lightly squeeze lime in a cool tall glass. Pour sweet syrup to cover and fill glass with ice. Add Rum, club soda, and stir your emerging mojito well. Garnish with a lime wedge and a few sprigs of mint.
Far Away Beautiful Places
Okay maybe not really far away - but away from your normal beaten path is the idea….a change in scenery than what you or your date are used to seeing.
Find a local map online and pick a park with a pond within 20 miles of you that you haven’t ever been to and write down the directions for it, because that’s where your next date will be.
If you picked a park with a pond, those usually come with ducks and ducks are always fun to feed, they’re silly, noisy and cute all at the same time. If you like taking pictures this is a great time to remember the camera. (You could take a lot of pictures of your date on the sly this way, show them to her later and she’ll think that you really went to watch her have fun and laugh, which gets you points!)
This date doesn’t involve anyone but the ducks eating so bring a loaf of bread from the day old bread store and feed the ducks. Of course you could always make sandwiches like I mentioned on Monday or a simple cheese and cracker snack would be fine too if you’re spending more than an hour or two, what you do after this little date (which could be made to seem spontaneous, hint hint) is up to you of course, this was just an idea.
Have fun everyone, after all that’s why you’re dating!
Stay tuned all week for two new date ideas every day!
