What You Learn In School Helps, Really!

My son starts school today, some of your children, nieces and nephews probably started already, my son has been anxious to start 4th grade. It’s a big deal.

The basic principles you learn in school are applicable for years and years after you graduate:

1. Keep your hands to yourself.

2. Raise your hand if you have a question.

3. Treat others as you want to be treated.

4. Be polite.

5. No running in the hallways.

6. Share.

7. Use your inside voice inside and outside voice outside.

8. The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.

I think most of those are pretty self explanatory, it’s something we’ve all grown up knowing, and if we didn’t follow these rules… Well, you know, mothers would be called, principals visited, behinds busted etc.

If you think about it, these are very good general rules of the working world and business world as well. Feel free to mention exceptions to these rules, because every rule has exceptions. But generally they’re good to follow and remember throughout life.

Personally I feel that number eight is the most important one, and the one I have always taken very seriously.

8. The only stupid question is the one you don’t ask.

If you don’t ask questions, as I’ve said before, you won’t ever learn all you need to know about anything, and really you never do learn all you need to know.

Embracing knowledge and a willingness to learn are the kind of qualities that are very valuable in the world, recognized easily because you stand out as a beacon. These are rare qualities in people. I would wager that the kind of people that remembered these lessons throughout life, have been the most successful.

Fart Around Friday

This week has been tough, I’m so exhausted atthe end of the day. Trying to learn new things fast is a brain drain! But now it’s Friday, so everybody chill for a minute and watch a few funny videos.

Patton Oswalt, Secret Standup
A show he did for some people that raise money for the troops, kind of a tribute, but very funny. LOL

Preview for Harold & Kumar 2, I saw the first one, in fact I bought the DVD when it came out, I really enjoyed this movie. We’ve just started getting Krystal burger franchises built down here, so I can relate to the desire. :) Not that I would go to those lengths, but to each his own…anyways, here’s the preview, lol…

If these aren’t enough and you want to watch a few more, check out my Fart Around Friday category, and you’ve got the pick of the litter, and there are a lot there.

Happy Friday everyone and have a Fantastic Weekend!

Online Shopping: Which form of payment should you use?

Yesterday we discussed shopping online and things to indicate the safety of the retailer you’re shopping with, now we’ll talk about which forms of payment you should use to best protect yourself from identity theft.

Credit Cards vs Bank Check Card

Credit Card

Using your credit card has its advantages, you may get bonus points or cash back rewards, or any kind of perk that makes you use that card. Do you have to pay for identity theft protection separately? Be sure to read the terms and services and what they can and cannot protect you from.

Check Card

Using your bank debit /credit card also has advantages, your money is insured by the federal government up to $10000.00, can you afford that kind of protection with your credit card company?
Also, the people at your bank have a relationship with you and want to keep your business, it’s not the sterile credit card call center that has computer prompted humans, it’s your bank and they’ll usually bend over backwards to help you recover anything lost.

The most important tip I can give you to aid in your decision is to read the disclosure statements with any identity theft protection you sign up with and research the companies you deal with as well.
