Free Software!!

So we all like free stuff, that’s easy. We all click on that quicker than a dollar sign with a number after it. Naturally.

So let me give you a peek at what you’ll get with Google Pack, there are 14 programs!

Sneak Peek:

Google Earth - I use this for everything I need to find, I fire it up, type in food, and it finds local restaurants. I type in grocery, Google Earth finds me grocery stores. So handy…..and free.

Picasa - A photo organizer with functionality very similar to Photoshop and incredibly easy to use, you can organize your photos in multiple folders and set up screensavers as well with another program in the pack (you have to download to see)….and free.

Adobe Reader - Very handy to have, lots of PDF files on the internet, you’ll need this for those files, you can also use it to secure your own documents. Very useful and good for document security….and it’s……free!

RealPlayer - Organize music, video and MP3 files, transfer music to your MP3 player or Ipod. I use this program all the time, I have more music than my MP3 player holds, so I shuffle it around weekly, this is a great program with real ease of use….and it’s free.

Skype: Voice, video and chat. Make free voice and video calls to anyone else on Skype. Since it’s free, get everyone to download the pack and you can all chat for free. Cell phone minutes? No need! You can also call landlines and mobile phones, so it’s available to call anyone you need….and it’s free!

Spyware Doctor Starter Edition - This is not the only real jewel, they all are, but this kind of program is a must, you’ll have to download the pack to see the rest, but let me say….you’ll be very glad you did.

Did I mention it’s all FREE? And there are 8 more programs that I did not mention….

Nintendo DS Lite, Number 2!

So I got the DS Lite on Tuesday…wonderful. I love it. My husband is already about to beat the New Super Mario Brothers for DS.

Wow.

I’ve always said I’m late to my generation, I mean, everything people in high school were doing, I did in my early twenties, etc. Video games are new to me, sure I played a few when I was younger hanging out with friends, but as for me, never had a game system before of my own in my life.

So anyways, my husband really wants a DS of his own, and I have an ulterior motive. So he mentions in passing all the change we’ve saved up in the last few months…which happens to be enough to buy a DS Lite new.

Light bulb moment!

Now that he’ll have his own DS I can play mine whenever and don’t have to share (BONUS!)…and I get to expand my gameplay through him! He kicks butt at every game and can then help me out…he’s got a black belt in Nintendo. :)

But the point of the post is this. One person, $40 a week allowance and after six short months, I had saved $140 in change. I never use my change, there are no coke machines where I work, or snack machines, so if i get anything, I have to drive somewhere, change goes in the ashtray and my purse and builds.

Get a big cup, or a Jack Daniels bottle which is my personal preference, and save some money effortlessly!

Mowing the Grass: Ah, The Joys of Home Ownership

My husband now talks about mowing the grass more than I ever thought was humanly possible. Don’t tell him I said this, but it’s really not that interesting, I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks so.

We moved into our new home the first weekend of February, how was I to know that yards were a “social marker”, so to speak. My husband talks about the condition of it at work, with his friends, with his family members.

Who knew a yard could be such a bone of contention? I always saw it as sort of a functional means to an end, space in front of the house? Throw some grass out there and call it a yard!

Out of nowhere I’ll get a call at work, Dear Hubby is taking off work early, we’ve gotten a break in the rain and he wants to mow the yard before the clouds change their mind. Palm to forehead moment. Thank God for PTO.

Pretty soon we’ll have to get new blades I heard a few days ago and finding lawn mower parts that you need, when you need them, can sometimes be a challenge. It’s lawnmower season for sure and getting the best parts is very important.

Finding www.MowPart.com was a solution to a problem that came right in time. Not only is that little name joke pretty clever, but the products they offer are remarkably cheap and I dare you to not find what you’re looking for there!
